Looking to travel soon?!

When it comes to traveling, being prepared is the most important thing! you never know what bumps in the road you might have. I suggest packing smart & light!

Whether you are going on a weekend getaway or an overnight flight to Europe, these travel checklists 2023 or travel essentials will make your journey easier!

This post is all about the best Travel Essentials you will need to prepare for the big trip!

  1. Suitcase/Carry On:

One of the most important things to keep in mind when traveling is your luggage size!! it is soooo easy to overpack, but it is a huge mistake! I was always the worst packer, taking the largest suitcase and tacking sooo many clothes I would never end up wearing!

I learned my lesson! I would even consider myself a PRO! Yes, it has taken me many tries to get the right skills. But one of the most important items that helped me, was getting the right luggage. You need something sturdy, that will not break down easily and something that will let you squeezeee everything you need in. I am surprise my suitcases have lasted soo long!

I swear by samsonite and kipling brand. They have lasted me at least 8 years, they are reasonably priced! and good quality. Trust me! you will end up spending more money if you buy a cheap suitcase! it will break easily and you will need to replace it quickly.

2. Travel Backpack/Personal bag

This is definitely top travel essential for me! I always take my computers, snacks, electronics, etc. You will need something big enough to keep everything in, but comfy to take with you. A travel backpack that slips onto the suitcase handle has made traveling sooo much easier for me. I loveee the Tumi backpacks, but they are quite pricy $$$. I currently use a Vera Bradley travel bag I got at TJMAXX. You will find many travel items in home goods, Marshalls, etc. I recommend you start there.

3. Passport Holder

Something to hold all your documents and boarding passes together, that is easy to access is definitely a must for your top travel essentials! This saves me so much time and stress. Amazon has a great selection! I got mine from the Turi Burch outlet during a black Friday sale. These also make for an awesome gift 🙂

4. Electronic case

Having a small pouch with all your headphones, chargers, etc. will keep things really organized and simple to reach. I bought mine in a bright color so It will be easier to spot in my bag. Amazon has some great ones, I got mine at TJMAXX.

5. Laptop/Ipad

Long flights can be exhausting, so make sure you have plenty of entertainment with you. I always bring my small laptop everywhere. It is extremely useful and helpful when I am on my trip. I always make sure to download a good movie or book if the airline does not offer in-flight entertainment. But do not bring a bulky laptop! TRUST ME, you will regret it.

6. Headphones

Make sure you always bring headphones with you. Everywhere I go, I take my AirPods and my bose headphones. You will want a wireless option and another pair that does plugin anywhere. Most airlines will give you headphones, but I prefer to bring my own comfy pair.

7. Portable charger

HUGE lifesaver!! when you are on the go, you will need a good portable charger. Make sure you have one that will charge your phone many times before having to recharge it.

8. Wall adapter for international travel

This is pretty straightforward! but always keep this in mind if you are going to Europe or need anything international for travel essentials. You will need a travel adapter. There are sooo many, I found a good quality product on Amazon that had USB & USBC plugs. You will want one that will charge multiple devices at the same time.

9. Face Mask

I know traveling with a face mask can be annoying. But it is extremely important! not only is it mandatory in all airlines and some countries, but it is essential when protecting yourself against the virus!

10. Travel Pillow

I have always had the worst time sleeping in cars and airplanes. But even if you do not sleep, having a pillow to support your head will make the trip a lot more comfier. I prefer getting a memory foam travel pillow that rolls up really small.

11. Comfy travel set!

This is an extremely life-changing travel essential & must-have! I refuse to wear jeans on a 9-hour flight or any tight clothes. I always make sure to get a nice matching set that feels super comfy and always pair it with my favorite fuzzy socks! Fashion Nova has some great sets, but just like everything else. I got mine from TJ MAXX.

12. Disinfecting wipes

Airplanes have a tonnnn of germs. This might be a no-brainer, but soooo easy to forget! Getting wipes to wipe down your seats, chairs, and hands will make everything cleaner and germ-free. It is soo easy to be exposed to so many germs and trust me, you do not want to get sick on your trip! so make sure you take precautions and use wipes for your seat and your hands.

13. Shoe Covers

When it comes to packing cubes and any organizer, I never use them! I see why they are useful. but for me, it is easier to pack everything in the suitcase without them. HOWEVER!! I cannot pack my shoes without these covers!

14.  Toiletry bags

It’s always a good idea to keep all your toilettrees together. Get a bag that can fit everything for you to be on the go! you can find cute ones anywhere but Target usually has the best! Make sure they are big enough, but will not take a ton of room.

15. Travel perfume holder

I recently made this purchase, and OMG was it worth it. It is super inexpensive but saved me sooo much room in my bag and I was able to take my perfume. These are super simple to use and I highly recommend them. While they are not necessary, it is definitely a great trip essential to have.

16. Pill organizer

Having medicine with you is always a good idea. If you get headaches or allergies or take daily medicine, you might want to have some backup. For me, getting a good organizer was not easy, I needed something that was small with lots of compartments. Amazon has a great selection, but I got mine from home goods. This is definitely a trip essential for me, as I do take medicine on a daily basis.

17. Phone Strap

At first, I was super hesitant about this product. But Once I used it, I LOVED IT! Having a simple string to hold your phone while going through the airport made it soo much easier. I also loved this product when traveling in Europe, it made my phone accessible and safe.

18. Water bottle

There is nothing more expensive than having to pay for water at the airport! My last trip, I spent $6 on a bottle of water that would usually cost $3. This is why getting a travel collapsible bottle will save you money!!

19. Airplane bag

Out of all the items on this list, This is one I take very seriously! Having a small toiletry bag with you on the plane is super helpful, I always make sure to pack:

  • Chapstick
  • Hair tie
  • Hand Cream
  • Tide to-go pen
